On Compact Integral Equation for the Acoustic Scattering Problem in a Penetrable Inhomogeneous Medium

Adil Mısır

Summary. In this paper, the scattering problem corresponding to time-harmonic acoustic waves in an inhomogeneous object in which ϱi(x) and ki(x) continuously differentiable density and wave numbers respectively, has been investigated. First, the scattering problem has been reduced to an integral equation. Then, compactness of the integral operator corresponding to this integral equation has been shown under some restriction.
