On April 2-6, 2001, the Middle
East Technical University ( Ankara, Turkey ), the Selçuk University
(Konya, Turkey) and the Munich University of Technology (Munich,
Germany ) organised the International Conference on Mathematical
Modelling and Scientific Computing. The Organising Committee of the
conference invited 73 researchers from Algeria, Belarus, Czech
Republic, Cyprus, France, Germany, India, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey,
UK, Ukraine, USA. The work of the conference started in Ankara and
continued in Konya. The scientific programme was included 14 lecturers
and more than 50 contributed papers. Reports were concerned many
aspects on mathematical modelling and scientific computing. Many
papers were devoted to the numerical simulation of processes in
science and engineering. With people from Western and Eastern
countries discussing and working together the conference was a
successful event from a professional and a social point of view.
